Entertaining Tips
Don’t be caught on the sideline this Big Game – be prepared to throw the ultimate football celebration with our Game Plan for the Big Game Entertaining Tips and Ideas.
Run Scrimmages
- You’re likely to have guests who will care more about how
equipped you are for the party than how the players prepare for
the Big Game. There is no need to call an audible – just be ready
with the perfect recipe game plan. Practice makes perfect,
especially if you are trying new recipe ideas like our Cheesesteak
Quesadilla. By running your plays ahead of time you’ll be
a seasoned pro come game day and you’ll already know what
supplies you’ll need ahead of time.
- Mapping out your shopping, cooking, and decorating schedule
ahead of time will limit the hustling you’ll need to do the day of
the Big Game. Make a list of items you can purchase a day or
two ahead of time like firm Hass Avocados – they can be
purchased up to two days in advance and stored in a brown
paper bag at room temperature to ripen in time for the big event.
Recipes like our Super Party Bowl Chili with Avocado Garnish are
great to make ahead of time and can be kept in reserve in a slow
cooker to be served at a moment's notice.
- Every great athlete knows to eat smart before game time. Since
kick-off isn’t until late afternoon, prepare yourself by enjoying our
Roasted Beet and Hass Avocado Salad with Orange Dressing or
fresh Avocado Roasted Garlic Dip with crudités. Great to share
with early guests or keep all to yourself.
Stadium Décor
- Show your spirit by decorating your home “field” inside and out to let guests know you’re serious about your gridiron
festivities. Start with your entryway by creating hash marks with white tape and/or chalk on your lawn and adding
colorful balloons and streamers to street-visible areas. Don’t have a lawn? Purchase a piece of inexpensive green rug
or synthetic grass and decorate with white “yard” lines for a fun entrance into your party. Using the competing team
colors as your party palette - adorn your party area with bright decorations that don’t interfere with your seating
arrangements.
- Clear the field by moving unnecessary furniture out of the room. Add side tables, coasters and plenty of napkins to
keep things clean while your guests are enjoying their refreshments. Clear a second area out of ear shot for guests who
aren’t as serious about the game to chat and mingle.
Shoot for Six
- Time your dishes to go with the game. Prepare your guacamole and dips like our Field of Guacamole for snacking during
the first half. Set up a concession stand on the side but still in view of the television for guests to grab their own drinks
and snacks during commercial. This frees up space for your half-time food prep of our Hass Avocado Touchdown Pizza
or tantalizing Buttermilk Ranch Guacamole with Spicy Chicken Wings.
- As the host you’re somewhat of the referee – why not dress accordingly by wearing black and white to show your
impartiality. Just be sure to include a whistle for when you’re calling those penalties! - Did you know that avocados, due to their mono and polyunsaturated fat content, are a great substitute for foods rich in
saturated fat? Include Hass Avocados and plenty of other fresh fruits and vegetables in your game plan for a winning
Big Game menu.
